The Practice Site incentive provides up to $50,000 in funding assistance that can be used for the recruitment and/or retention of providers at rural and critical access hospitals, FQHC's, rural health clinics, or faith-based/charitable care clinics. In regard to eligible professions, this incentive covers Primary Care Physicians (FM, IM, OB/GYN, Peds, IM/Peds), psychiatric nurse practitioners, dentists, and psychiatrists. If awarded, the service commitment is two years for full-time providers and the funds would be awarded directly to the practice site. Funds can be used for the following expenses: relocation expenses, insurance, sign-on bonuses, loan repayment, and in some instances, equipment. If, however, the provider would default prior to the maturation of the service agreement, the practice site is eligible for repayment of the incentive funds to TCWD, not the provider. Please note this stipend cannot be used for salaries. TCWD verifies permissible uses of the funds, but any agreements are between the practice site and the doctor. For this reason, we always suggest a repayment clause in case the doctor defaults.
Applications are reviewed quarterly, but we recommend submitting an application as soon as possible if you would like to apply as the incentive has become more competitive recently. As for stipulations/requirements, preference is given to sites that see are seeing a significant percentage of TennCare/uninsured patients, as well as geographic need for the specialty being considered.
